@github-actions github-actions released this 26 Oct 17:14

kwant for Mac 0.1.2: one universal app for Apple silicon and Intel Macs (macOS 11 or later).

Install: open kwant_universal.dmg and drag kwant to Applications.

First open: the app is not notarized by Apple yet, so macOS blocks it the first time.

  1. Open kwant from Applications. macOS says it can't check it for malicious software. Click Done (or OK).
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down to the message about kwant and click Open Anyway.
  3. Confirm with Open Anyway and your password. From then on it opens normally.

On macOS 14 or earlier you can instead right-click kwant in Applications and choose Open.

The app runs kwant on your Mac with the same data folder as kwnt serve (~/.kwnt) and stays in the menu bar when you close the window.

kwant for Mac 0.1.0 (test build)

Pre-release

Test build: unsigned, and not yet opened on a real Mac.

kwant for Mac runs the kwant server inside a small app with a window and a menu-bar icon. It uses the same ~/.kwnt data as the CLI.

  • Universal (Apple silicon + Intel), macOS 11+.
  • Ad-hoc signed only. The first time, right-click the app → Open.
  • Built by the mac workflow from 620e2bc. CI smoke test: the app starts and answers /api/health.

Not verified yet: the window and menu bar, closing the window keeps kwant running, Quit stops it, attaching to an already-running kwant, finding claude/codex when launched from Finder, and notifications. The icons are placeholders. On a fresh ~/.kwnt, the first start installs Laya (downloads PyTorch).
