I found out that the inverter has a RS485 dedicated port. So i guess i could connect direct to that instead of the logger? |

I got it to work just fine now. I had some wiring issues but now it's
working. Thanks for the help.

I wired it as the manual says. And then just connected A to A on the
waveshare and B o B. Then it just worked. After using the settings provided
by alienatedsecs guide.

How did you wire the S2-WL-ST USB datalogger? Can you share more details?
This could be useful for @mdeakin99 <https://github.com/mdeakin99> as per

Sorry i forgot that this question was about the usb device. I found out
that my solis inverter had a dedicated rs485 port so I used that one.

Hi everyone, Adding my experience to the conversation. Might be useful to others. I have been using Solis Modbus integration on HA targeted to the Dongle IP. This way I got all the Modbus data to HA. Also the Solis Cloud App was sometimes refreshing the data as well (intermittently). Yesterday received my Waveshare RS485 Gateway. and decided to switch to that dedicated RS485 as described here. This is where I opened my inverter manual... Switched to the Orange pair and it started working... Connected So the message is: be aware that different Inverters might have different pinouts... Even of the similar model series... |
Hi I've just followed through this discussion. I've got the same inverter (S6-EH3P10K-H) but it has an AU suffix which is for the verification for the Australia / New Zealand market. Am I screwed ? |

Hello,
Unfortunately, I can't get that to work either. I only have one Waveshare connected. It worked for a few weeks. Now I haven't been able to connect for a long time and only use the portal.
I haven't found a solution yet to reconnect the USB stick.

Hi, i just got my hybrid inverter and it's using a USB connection instead of the old 4 pin. Is it possible to do this solution with that inverster or am i screwed? Model: S6-EH3P10K-H
Hi I've just followed through this discussion. I've got the same inverter (S6-EH3P10K-H) but it has an AU suffix which is for the verification for the Australia / New Zealand market.
I'm trying to get this to work - initially just trying to read the Modbus registers using the Modbus Poll tool.
I can connect using a Waveshare RS485/ETH(B) bridge.
I keep getting timeouts. I've tried the blue/white wire pairs and the orange/white wire pairs and there is no difference.
I've followed the instructions in the main part of this repo but am out of ideas.
Am I screwed ?

Which seems very strange because other people are reporting it working.
I have tried disconnecting the USB datalogger and plugging the RJ45 cable into the RS485 port. This is connected to the Waveshare device. I can see the activity light on the waveshare flashing at the ModbusPoll software tries to read the registers but the software keeps showing a time out.
Also I think the USB stick is actually using a USB protocol so despite users on other forums saying it should work as a client of another waveshare I can't see that working.
I have raised a service desk ticket with Solis and will report back if I get an answer.

I think that's a coincidence. Parallel settings are designed to connect multiple identical inverters.

That would be great. I would also like to make progress in this area.
I've made some progress. I created an installer account with Solis, which gave me an organisation ID.
I then used the SolisCloud web page (Device | Modify Info) to set the Organisation Code.
After logging out from web page I was able to login using the installer account and then go the the Inverter Control page.
I now have access to the Parallel settings function - changing the Physical address ID to 2 seems to have enabled the RS485 port.
I'm now getting a different set of errors on the Modbus Poll tool, but at least it seems to be communicating.
