Start here — automatic installer

Download PlayGTA5-Installer-v2.zip below (about 600 KB), extract it completely, and open the PlayGTA5 folder. This contains current launch/download/verification tools; it downloads the approximately 21.2 GB game separately.

Windows: run Download-Game.cmd, wait for Download complete, then run Launch-Local.cmd. Keep the server window open. No separate Python installation is required.

Mac: install Python 3.11+ from python.org. In Terminal in the extracted folder, run bash Download-Game.command, then bash Launch-Local.command. Mac gameplay is experimental; native launch scripts do not guarantee GPU compatibility.

Use current Chrome or Edge, enable Use graphics acceleration when available, and Relaunch the browser. Start at http://localhost:8000/__support/; choose a lower-memory/performance preset. Run Verify-Game.cmd (Mac: bash Verify-Game.command) if assets fail to load. Interrupted downloads can resume by rerunning the installer.

The 14 original game archives are unchanged. A fresh full download passed verification of 12,527 game/runtime files. Automated installation/server checks passed; this does not certify every device or resolve all rendering/audio reports.

Updating an existing installation

Copy the new installer ZIP's helper files and support folder into your existing installation, replacing older helpers. Keep mirror, runtime and browser saves. There is no need to download the entire game again if verification passes.

Manual downloads

Part 01 alone is not playable. Download ALL 14 playgta5-part-*.zip archives, extract every archive into the same empty folder, and include file-inventory.json. Then copy the latest installer helpers and support folder over the original release helpers. Do not open index.html directly; use the launcher.

Allow about 25 GB free space for automatic installation or 45 GB when retaining every manual ZIP beside the extracted game. ZIP checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt; the small installer has its own PlayGTA5-Installer-v2.zip.sha256.

October 13 launcher update

Browser hub: graphics profiles, standard-controller mapping and experimental touch controls. F8 hides extra overlays. Touch input logic is tested; phone gameplay is not certified. Multiplayer and the reported engine animation/minimap faults remain unresolved. Existing installations can copy the v2 helper files and support folder over their old helpers; keep game files and browser saves. Original game archives are unchanged.
