WinDock 0.2.1 — Automatic playback updates
WinDock 0.2.1-preview.1
Playing information now keeps up automatically, and the Windows tray can check
for future updates.
- Now playing: track, artist and playback changes update every two seconds
while connected and visible. Polling pauses in the background and resumes when
you return. Thanks @Peter-KIbe for reporting #1. - Updates: choose Check for updates in the Windows tray. WinDock also
checks at startup and notifies you when a newer release is available. Click the
notification or download menu item to view the release. Installation is manual. - Reliability: transient failures recover automatically, slow media requests
do not pile up, and unchanged playback controls keep keyboard focus.
Update instructions
- Quit WinDock using its Windows tray menu.
- Download and run WinDockSetup.exe. Your dock settings are preserved.
- Start WinDock, then disconnect/reconnect your Android app to load the updated
dock. Pair again with the tray PIN if prompted.
No Android APK update is required. The APK included here is byte-for-byte the
existing 0.2.0-preview.1 Android build (version code 3), included for new users.
Existing Windows users must install this release manually once; earlier versions
cannot check for updates. Windows notification settings may suppress a startup
notification, so Check for updates is always available in the tray.
Verification and preview status
The media fix passed browser and Android emulator WebView regressions without
Refresh clicks, including pause/resume, ended playback, and background return.
The release build checks update detection, native input, app tests, and installer
installation, launch, upgrade and uninstall.
Windows is unsigned and Android is debug-signed. The September 18 Android preview
used a different signing key and must be uninstalled before installing the newer
APK. iOS remains in development with no installable public release.
Download hashes are in SHA256SUMS.txt. See the full
version history.
WinDock 0.2.0 — Touchpad, keyboard and signatures
WinDock 0.2.0-preview.1
Your phone is now a touchpad, keyboard and signature pad for your Windows PC.
- Touchpad: a full-screen dark grid with blue touch feedback, adjustable speed, click/drag controls, two-finger scrolling and pinch zoom in compatible PC apps.
- Keyboard: use the normal Android keyboard, including emoji. Supported PC text fields open it automatically; a keyboard button is available as a fallback.
- Signatures: draw in black or blue, save transparent PNGs to Pictures / WinDock / Signatures, or paste into a PC app that accepts images.
- Icons: real app icons now recover after temporary loading failures.
- Website: try the updated interactive demo and browse the new version history.
Install or update
Download WinDockSetup.exe for Windows 10/11 x64 and
WinDock-android-debug.apk for Android 7.0+. Update both devices.
Quit WinDock from the PC tray before running the installer. Your dock settings
are preserved. Keep both devices on the same trusted network and pair using
the PIN in the Windows tray.
Updating the September 18 public Android preview: it used a different debug
signing key. Uninstall that APK first, install this one, then pair again.
The recent local keyboard test APK uses the same key as this release and can
update directly. Your pinned dock remains on the PC.
Preview limitations
The Windows installer is unsigned and the Android APK is debug-signed. Keyboard
focus detection depends on the PC app; composed words arrive when the Android
keyboard commits them. Signature insertion requires image-paste support and
also saves a PNG. Windows permissions still apply to remote input. Screen
recordings are video only. iOS is planned; macOS is not supported.
SHA256SUMS.txt contains both download checksums. The full history is in
CHANGELOG.md.
WinDock 0.1.0 Preview
WinDock 0.1.0 preview
A Windows app dock and control surface for your Android phone, on your local network.
- Large app icons, swipeable pages, hold to rearrange, and glass appearance settings.
- Windows app launch and focus, media, volume, brightness, and power controls.
- Main-monitor PNG screenshots and silent MP4 recordings, saved on your PC.
Downloads
On your PC, download WinDockSetup.exe and open it. The installer includes
the required runtimes and adds WinDock to the Start menu and system tray.
Starting with Windows is optional; upgrades and uninstall preserve your dock settings.
On your Android 7+ phone, download WinDock-android-debug.apk and install it.
Keep both devices on the same trusted network, open WinDock, and enter the PIN
from the PC tray's Show connection info menu.
These are early previews: the Windows installer is unsigned and the Android
APK is debug-signed. A different Android signing key can require uninstalling
an earlier preview before installing this build. Some Windows focus behavior
and hardware controls are still being refined. There is no internet remote
access or automatic updater.
Both downloads were built and checked by GitHub Actions
from commit 8203143a5fd49558d2d0ec8aaf45010ed032cde3. The Windows job passed
all 16 verification scripts and install, launch, upgrade, and uninstall checks.
The Android job passed its build, unit tests, lint, and APK signature check.
SHA256SUMS.txt contains checksums for both downloads. Try the app interface
