CD Rip 0.4.0 is the first public beta: a native macOS app for audio CD extraction, MP3/FLAC conversion, tracklist OCR and AI-assisted metadata review.

  • Intel: CD-Rip-0.4.0-x86_64.dmg — experimental; checked through Rosetta, physical Intel testing pending.

Requires macOS 14 or later. Open the DMG and drag CD Rip to Applications. Audio tools are bundled; Homebrew is not required. Optional AI features require a separately installed and authenticated Codex CLI or Claude Code CLI.

Both apps and disk images are Developer ID signed and Apple notarized, with stapled tickets. SHA-256 checksums are in SHA256SUMS.

  • External audio CD detection, per-track selection/progress, cancellation and retry.
  • MP3 192/256/320 kbps and V0, FLAC, or MP3 + FLAC; one destination with format subfolders and optional WAV cleanup.
  • Manual tracklists and local photo OCR with CD selection and per-track validation.
  • Metadata and artwork research for one track or all tracks using local AI CLIs.
  • Manual editing, Save all, embedded artwork and Artist - Title filenames without audio recompression.
  • Session-specific settings/destinations, draft saving, tagging backups and recovery.

Validation and limitations

89 discovered automated tests passed with live opt-in tests disabled. Bundled audio encoding/decoding, tagging, artwork and audio preservation checks passed on arm64 and x86_64 (Rosetta). Both application builds launched in isolated test workspaces.

Physical ripping was previously tested on Apple Silicon/macOS 26.1. Clean-Mac/macOS 14 testing, physical Intel hardware, broader CD-drive compatibility and complete AzuraCast acceptance remain beta validation work. AccurateRip, offset calibration and audio fingerprint recognition are not implemented. AI proposals require review; AzuraCast upload is manual.
