Windows alpha

The Windows ZIP contains the signed MSIX, its public certificate, guarded install and removal
scripts, license notices, and a source-bound release manifest. It does not contain the signing
private key. Windows asks for explicit permission to trust the project-specific alpha certificate.

Windows 10 version 1809 or later can test compatible local Android sources and official exports.
Encrypted iPhone and iPad backup recovery requires Windows 11 x64. BitLocker or Windows device
encryption must protect the app's private output volume.

The hosted release gate builds, installs, launch-smokes, removes, and reverifies the exact package.
That does not prove every physical device, backup schema, filesystem, or UI path. Please report
compatibility using synthetic steps and Safe Diagnostics codes only.

Mac and Python

The Mac app keeps encrypted iOS recovery and adds the experimental Android and official-export
routes. The separate Apple silicon and Intel DMGs are intended to be Developer ID signed,
notarized, stapled, and accepted by Gatekeeper.

The Python packages support Python 3.10 through 3.13. Full encrypted-backup recovery remains
supported on macOS and Linux. Windows continues to support the documented existing-extraction and
report routes through Python.

Privacy

Recovery is local and offline. The application contains no network client, telemetry, AI feature,
machine-learning feature, or WebView. Never upload a backup, export, database, report, output tree,
marker, screenshot of recovered content, or debug trace.

If the app stops, share only the fixed Safe Diagnostics codes and a synthetic description of the
stage. Those codes do not contain paths, titles, identifiers, passwords, counts, or raw errors.

What is experimental

The alpha adds macOS and Python recovery from official TV Time ZIP/CSV exports, compatible legacy
Android backup containers, and preserved Android database snapshots. Android acquisition is device
and schema dependent: modern devices commonly do not expose compatible app data, and unsupported
sources fail closed.

The repository contains a promising native Windows app candidate, but this release deliberately
includes no MSIX or other Windows binary. Native Windows installation, UI behavior, real NTFS
capability behavior, and complete packaged recovery are not yet proven. Advanced Windows testers
may use the Python CLI or follow the private source-build instructions in docs/windows.md using
only synthetic or owner-authorized local data.

Existing encrypted-iOS recovery on macOS retains the published v0.2 workflow. Official-export
recovery has synthetic end-to-end coverage. No test result claims that every TV Time app version,
backup schema, or physical device is compatible.

Privacy and safety

Recovery is local and offline. Never upload a backup, database, export, report, screenshot, marker,
or recovered content to an issue. Keep every source read-only and retain recovered output only in
private owner-controlled local storage. For encrypted-iOS recovery, use a completed encrypted
backup and disconnect the phone after confirming that backup has finished. Opening a report can add
its private filename to browser or viewer history and Recent Items.

If recovery stops in the macOS app, use Copy Safe Diagnostics and share only that bounded text
plus a manual description of the stage. Unknown failures are reported as unrecognized_failure.
Do not send a screenshot, complete log archive, backup, database, export, report, or recovered
output.

TV Time Backup Extractor v0.2.0 adds a native privacy-conscious macOS recovery workflow and a source-bound Python CLI release.

macOS:

• Requires macOS 14 or later.
• Apple silicon Macs use the arm64 DMG.
• Intel Macs use the x86_64 DMG.
• Both applications and DMGs are Developer ID signed, notarized, stapled, Gatekeeper-accepted, and bound to the tagged source commit.
• Verify the downloaded DMG against SHA256SUMS before installation.

Privacy:

• Recovery is local and uses an authorized completed encrypted iOS backup.
• Recovered reports and normalized tables are highly sensitive; keep them on private encrypted local storage.
• The application does not upload recovered data and has no network telemetry.
• Opening reports may add private filenames to browser, viewer, or Recent Items history.
• PDF is optional and may be omitted when exact text fidelity cannot be guaranteed; Markdown and offline HTML remain canonical.

Python CLI:

• Supports Python 3.10 through 3.13.
• Full encrypted-backup recovery is supported on macOS and Linux.
• Windows supports analysis and report rebuilding from an existing completed extraction only.

Cache-derived history may be incomplete when TV Time data was not present in the selected backup. See the README and platform guides before recovery.

Warning

Windows safety notice: do not use v0.1.0 extract or recover on Windows. Use Windows only to run analyze or report on an already completed extraction; perform fresh encrypted-backup recovery on macOS or Linux. Use Python 3.10 through 3.13—v0.1.0 did not yet enforce the current upper bound.

TV Time Backup Extractor v0.1.0

First public alpha baseline of the free, privacy-first command-line extractor for TV Time data in an authorized encrypted Finder, Apple Devices, or iTunes backup.

Highlights

• One guided recover command extracts the TV Time app container, analyzes the local cache, and creates a readable report.
• The source backup is treated as read-only; extraction goes to a fresh private destination and refuses overlap, overwrite, Git destinations, and unsafe link or manifest paths.
• Default terminal output is human-readable, and the Markdown report lists every identifiable recovered series, movie, favorite, episode, and watch-event title found locally.
• CSV tables provide structured private data, while raw cache payloads and the decrypted device manifest remain opt-in.
• No iMazing, Homebrew, Git, or paid software is required. Python 3.10 through 3.13 is supported.

Install

Download tvtime_backup_extractor-0.1.0-py3-none-any.whl and SHA256SUMS. Verify the wheel hash using the command in the README, create a virtual environment, and install the wheel with its pinned dependencies.

Read the macOS, Windows, or Linux guide before using a real backup. Generated reports and tables contain private viewing-history data and must stay on protected storage.

Verification

• A clean install of this wheel completed an end-to-end extraction from an encrypted Finder backup and reproduced the independently validated useful title and media tables exactly. No private backup or recovered data is included in this repository or release.
• The public CI matrix passes on macOS, Windows, and Linux with Python 3.10 and 3.13.
• The release wheel, source distribution, and repository tree passed privacy and forbidden-artifact scans.
