VoxPilot is a compact Windows voice-to-text companion that lets you dictate directly into almost any application.
Place the cursor where you want the text, use the global shortcut, speak naturally, and VoxPilot transcribes and types the result for you.

Installation
- Download
VoxPilot-win-x64.zip. - Extract the ZIP.
- Run
VoxPilot.exe. - Select OpenAI or OpenRouter.
- Save a compatible API key.
- Select and test your microphone.
- Focus an application such as Notepad.
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + F9and begin speaking.
No .NET installation is required.
Smart text modes
- Exact: Returns the transcription result unchanged.
- Polished: Removes filler words and improves punctuation and obvious grammar.
- Notes: Converts the transcript into concise bullet points.
Polished and Notes require a saved OpenAI API key, even when OpenRouter is selected for transcription. If smart formatting fails, VoxPilot safely returns the exact transcript.
Privacy
- API keys are stored in Windows Credential Manager.
- Audio is recorded in memory and sent only after a normal stop.
- Pressing Esc discards the recording without contacting a transcription provider.
- Audio recordings are not saved to disk.
- When Polished or Notes is enabled, the resulting transcript is sent to OpenAI for formatting.

Known limitations
- The executable is not currently code-signed, so Windows may display a SmartScreen warning.
- Windows prevents a non-elevated application from typing into an administrator-elevated window.
- Direct typing depends on the destination application accepting standard Unicode keyboard input.
