Two fixes on top of 4.26.1.

Fixed

  • Uploading a file whose name contains a website (like ssstwitter.com_123.mp4 from a downloader site) counted as posting a link, so on servers that restrict links it was blocked and could give a strike.

Changed

  • Videos, audio files and YouTube cards in chat now pause when you scroll them out of view by default. Turn it off under Settings > Link Previews.

Fixes for problems in 4.26.0. Update if you're on 4.26.0, and if you're still
on 4.25.0, update straight to this one.

Fixed

  • Menus in the sidebar, like the status menu, opened underneath the sections below them.
  • The first start after updating could freeze a server without exiftool for a long time on a big uploads folder, while it checked old files for location data. Only photos are read now, and the server keeps answering while it works.
  • With exiftool and ffmpeg installed, a file that couldn't be checked (a timeout, an odd video) was taken out of chat. Now only a file that still carries location data after cleaning is held back. Animated PNGs and SVG pictures are no longer refused, and .weba audio keeps its name.
  • The Permissions panel's Save could hang if the server didn't answer, boxes ticked while saving were lost, and Reset to roles or removing a role could be undone by a pending Save.
  • Turning level-based permissions into ticks could give Create Channels and Manage Channel Settings to people who didn't have them before: someone ranked below their role, or holding the role only inside one channel. Servers that update from 4.25.0 now convert without that. If you already ran 4.26.0, check who holds those two in the Permissions panel.
  • The folded topic tab could cover the top of the channel header's menus.
  • An admin using a theme or overlay they haven't published couldn't see it in the theme picker.

Changed

  • Edit Profile puts Shape right under your picture, and the picture takes the shape you pick.
  • The Threads window can sort unread first and show only unread threads.
  • In the theme picker, the effects stay pinned below the theme list, and admins' publish switches sit behind a Publish button.

Everything new in 4.26.0

Location data removed from uploaded photos and videos, Ukrainian and complete
Russian, Spanish and Polish translations, per-sound soundboard volume, idle
voice disconnect, role menu pick limits, NSFW marking for messages, and a long
list of fixes.

Security

  • Photos and videos lose their location data when they're uploaded. Every server cleans JPEG, PNG and WebP photos with nothing to install. With exiftool and ffmpeg installed (the Docker image has both), videos and every other photo format are cleaned too. Files uploaded before this are cleaned on the first start. Files in encrypted DMs reach the server already encrypted, so they can't be cleaned, and DMs now say so. See "Location Data in Photos and Videos" in the guide (#5805, thanks Bo0sted).

Added

  • Ukrainian, plus complete Russian, Spanish and Polish translations. Before, most of the app showed in English for those three.
  • Each soundboard sound has its own volume, set by admins and soundboard managers, and everyone gets a personal soundboard volume in Settings (#5804).
  • A channel can disconnect people who sit idle in voice, from its AFK settings (#5801).
  • Role menus can limit how many roles each person picks. With a limit of one, picking another role swaps it (#5800).
  • Mark any message NSFW from its menu, pictures and video links included. It stays blurred until clicked.
  • You're told when someone starts a thread on your message.
  • A blog post's author can answer comments as comments.
  • The thread side panel makes room for itself instead of covering the chat.
  • See who's typing in DM and group chat pop-outs.
  • A new forum post shows its pictures and which one is the thumbnail.
  • The Organize windows suggest existing tags, and a sub-channel can get its tag when it's created.
  • YouTube cards have a volume slider, and a new setting pauses videos and audio that scroll off screen.
  • The Permissions grid shows channel roles, and changes there wait for Save changes (or Discard).
  • The topic bar folds away to a small tab.
  • Ferry relays a stream bot's channel link from its embed or link button.
  • Swipe sideways in the picture viewer on touch screens (#5802, thanks Amnibro).

Changed

  • The hidden "level 50 and up" permission rule is gone. Servers keep the same access, because it's turned into normal permission ticks you can see and change. New roles at level 50 or above from role templates start with Create Channel and Manage Channel Settings ticked.
  • A profile card shows only the highest earned badge of each kind (#5800).
  • A role's upload cap raises the admin's own cap too.
  • Edit Profile leads with a larger avatar.
  • Theme effects draw behind messages instead of over them.
  • The status bar switch moved to Settings > Debug.
  • Text boxes without a style of their own follow the theme.
  • Missing Simplified Chinese translations filled in (#5803, thanks TianLaiEric).

Fixed

  • Edit Profile opened with an empty bio and birthday, and saving it wiped the bio.
  • Dragging an edit box taller moved the message up instead of growing the box.
  • A blank line after a list showed as two.
  • The who-reacted list closed as the pointer moved onto it.
  • The New Post body box could be dragged outside its window.
  • Group chat messages went missing when the same chat was open in the main view and a pop-out.
  • Group chat pop-outs and grouped thread replies were spaced differently from the main chat.
  • The GIF item in the composer menu was drawn differently from the others.
