FastPointer: Zero-Overhead Native Memory vs Java Heap Performance 🚀

DESCRIPTION:
Demonstrating FastPointer, a zero-allocation native memory abstraction for Java. This performance comparison shows 1,000,000 messages processed via native off-heap memory versus traditional Java heap objects, highlighting zero GC pressure and direct memory access benefits.

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Zero-Allocation Arithmetic: 64-bit native pointer operations without intermediate Java objects
  • Direct Memory Access: Unsafe-based primitive getters/setters for byte, int, float, double
  • Off-Heap Memory: Native memory allocation eliminates GC pressure completely
  • Real-World Benchmark: 1M message buffer test with timing and memory measurements

RESULTS:

  • Write Speedup: 1.5x faster than Java heap objects (35ms vs 54ms)
  • Read Speedup: 1.2x faster than Java heap objects (11ms vs 13ms)
  • Memory Saved: 22.9 MB reduced memory footprint
  • GC Pressure: Native = NONE | Heap = HIGH
