NihongoZotero adds a dedicated metadata panel to Zotero 7's item pane for scholars working with Japanese-language sources. Store romanized titles, author names, publisher names, and English translations alongside your existing Zotero data, and cite them accurately using the bundled Chicago-style citation styles.

Features

  • Item pane section with 14 romanization/translation fields
  • AI-assisted romanization via the Anthropic Claude API (API key required)
  • Three bundled Chicago citation styles (romanized, romanized without translation, romanized + Japanese)
  • Jurism migration tool

Known limitations

  • AI romanization has not been tested at scale; always review output
  • Citation styles have not been validated against all item types
  • No update mechanism yet — reinstall manually for new versions
