CTRL-P opens your settings file in your editor from inside the program.
Most settings you change there take effect when you leave the editor; the
manual lists the few that wait for the next start. ncmail --version now
shows where the file is.
QWK: a message that Synchronet marks as UTF-8 now displays correctly on a
UTF-8 terminal, in the letter list and header as well as the body, block art
and wide characters included. Anywhere else, and in quotes and replies, it
becomes the nearest single-byte text instead of garbage. (#28)
QWK: an accented letter in the From, To or Subject of a UTF-8 message, or in
a UTF-8 poll, showed as a different letter in areas that are not Latin-1,
and replies sent it back that way.
Window shadows on a UTF-8 terminal showed rows of "h" and "q" in place of
the background pattern and line drawing they fell across.
DOS: in a large Synchronet QWK packet, most messages lost their full-length
From, To and Subject, their UTF-8 handling and their vote tallies. (#48)
DOS: running out of memory now ends the program with "Out of memory"
instead of hanging the machine.
A new settings file starts by asking which editor to use, instead of
leaving you in vi when EDITOR is not set.
F2 now says where the reply packet was saved and how many replies it holds,
or that there were no replies to save. (#46)
A new letter opens the editor on an empty file instead of a missing one, so
Notepad no longer asks whether to create it. (#47)
UseLynxNav, BeepOnPers and LetterSort in the settings file were ignored:
the list and letter windows read them before the file was loaded, so they
always got the defaults.
Windows: box drawing and accented letters came out as the wrong characters
in a console set to code page 1252. The console is now set to match the
Charset setting while NoCarrierMail runs (the CTRL-Z shell gets yours back),
or left on UTF-8 and drawn in Unicode.
F1 or ? now lists every command on the current screen, in the packet list,
area list, letter list, address book, tagline window and reply-area picker
as well as the letter window and ANSI viewer. The summary along the bottom
is a subset that has to fit; this is the whole list, and it works in
ExpertMode too.
The help bar at the bottom drew the packet list's |, ^ key off the left
edge, and could run a description into the next column's key.
QWK: netmail conferences are recognised. Replying to a netmail message now
fills in the sender's address, and a reply you enter carries its destination,
so the door can route it instead of rejecting it. (#44, #45)
Fix the Replies area going missing when you open the first packet of a
session.
Mark an area as Latin-1 with 8 in the area list, for boards that export
accented text in areas that say nothing about their character set -- a name
spelled Björn was drawn as Bj÷rn. The setting is remembered per board. (#42)
Blue Wave: replies for a packet level 2 door are written as the *.UPI and
*.NET files such a door expects.
Blue Wave: offline configuration names its first section the way the Blue
Wave Developer's Kit specifies, so a door that checks the name applies your
area changes.
While composing a reply header, the length of the field being edited is
shown against its limit. (#18)
