Threads Clone Frontend

A modern React application that provides a UI similar to Instagram Threads.

Features

  • Authentication: Login, registration, and password recovery
  • Feed: View and interact with posts from users you follow
  • Create Posts: Share text and images with your followers
  • Profiles: View user profiles and follow/unfollow users
  • Notifications: Get notified of likes, comments, follows, and mentions
  • Dark/Light Mode: Toggle between dark and light themes

Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Node.js (v14+)
  • npm or yarn
  • Backend services running (Authentication and Social services)

Installation

  1. Clone the repository
  2. Install dependencies:
npm install
  1. Set up environment variables:
  • Create a .env file in the root directory
  • Add the following variables:
REACT_APP_AUTH_API_URL=http://localhost:8080
REACT_APP_SOCIAL_API_URL=http://localhost:8086
  1. Start the development server:
npm start

Backend Services

This frontend connects to two microservices:

  • Authentication Service: Handles user authentication, registration, and profile management
  • Social Service: Manages posts, comments, likes, follows, and notifications

Make sure both services are running before starting the frontend.

Deployment

To build the application for production:

npm run build

The build artifacts will be stored in the build/ directory.
