fix(self-update): install node_modules from npm tarball

npm tarballs do not include dependencies. The self-update engine now
runs npm install --production after the atomic replacement, with
rollback to the previous version on failure.

Fixes self-update breaking on v1.8.0 with ERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND.
