Zotero Replication Checker vtest

Privacy-first plugin to discover replications from the FORRT Replication Database (FReD).

Installation

1. Download replication-checker-vtest.xpi below
2. In Zotero: Tools → Plugins (or Tools → Add-ons)
3. Click gear icon ⚙️ → Install Plugin From File
4. Select the downloaded XPI
5. Restart Zotero

Features

• Check Library for Replications - Scan your entire library for studies that have been replicated
• Check Selected Items - Check individual items for replication attempts
• Automatic Tagging - Items with replications get tagged as "Has Replication"
• Detailed Notes - Replication details are added as child notes with:
  • Replication study title, authors, and year
  • Direct DOI links to replication papers
  • Replication outcomes (when available)
• Privacy-First Design - Uses hash prefixes to query the database without exposing your DOIs
• FORRT Replication Database (FReD) - Powered by the comprehensive FReD database

Requirements

• Zotero 7.0 or later
• Items must have DOIs to be checked

Menu Items

Tools Menu:

• Check Library for Replications - Scan all items in your library

Right-click Context Menu:

• Check for Replications - Check selected item(s)

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues:

1. Enable debug output: Help → Debug Output Logging → Enable
2. View output: Help → Debug Output Logging → View Output
3. Look for messages starting with "ReplicationChecker:"
4. Report issues at: https://github.com/forrtproject/fred_zotero/issues
