[BUG] Claude stuck in loop constantly repeating entire conversation

What's Wrong?

I just started using claude code cli for the first time ever like half an hour ago and was making the CLAUDE.md and answering some basic questions about the codebase and then in a response claude went crazy and was streaming pages and pages of content, when I tried to kill the process it wouldn't take me back to a command prompt, and when I read the contents it seemed to be the full conversation both my messages, claude's messages, even repeating the intro text e.g.

and it seems to have used heaps of tokens

What Should Happen?

not get caught in a loop using up all my tokens on nothing and also if I ctrl+c it should properly break out of the program so I'm not worried it's not doing something in the background I don't want

i'm finding the same thing this week. it has completely eaten up my allowance on each 5 hour slot, i cant get much done

I'm finding the same thing in Claude Code for Claude Desktop (Beta).

I'm curious if you run into this bug while two claude are running?

• Claude (Desktop) for windows
• Claude Desktop (Pro) for windows
  • Claude Code (BETA) is a new offering that can use cloud or local git worktrees
• Claude Code in a linux distro for wsl2
• VS Code Extension - (NEW VERSION) Chat interface
• VS Code Extension (OLD VERSION) wrapper for cli commands claude or claude --continue
• Visual Studio
• Terminal in Windows, such as pwsh/PowerShelll/Terimal
• Terminal in WSL2 with linux based claude cli

I did not notice an infinite behavior, though. It seemed to "advance" the chat by 1 message and then replay again, eventually ending with:

I think for some reason it really wants to show you this ^ but instead it is retrying the whole convo or something?

I think it might happen if you have 2 Claude Code processes open, not 100% sure but seems to increase the change of triggering this bug behavior.
