Preflight Checklist
What's Wrong?
I’m a daily user on Max x20 ($200/mo). One Claude Code terminal, no sub-agents, no parallel sessions. Windows 11, WSL.
Today at 10:00 I started a fresh session and watched usage. **By ~10:05 on https://claude.ai/settings/usage
I saw:
- current session ≈5%
- weekly (All models) +2%**
This was light, normal prompts in a single terminal. For Max x20, a +2% weekly jump in ~5 minutes feels like miscounting or hidden activity I can’t explain or verify.
On top of that, the usage page shows a red "Missing permissions. Please check with Anthropic support if you think this is in error." banner, so I can’t self-diagnose or confirm the numbers. When the meter spikes and the supposed source of truth is broken, predictability and trust take a hit.
What would help:
- audit and correct accounting for the 10:00–10:05 window (including any retries, fallbacks, background tasks, or double-counting)
- share a short breakdown for that window: which models and what exactly counts toward "weekly"
- fix the "
" error on /settings/usage for my account
- longer term, add clear units and a stable real-time weekly indicator in the product
Repro on my side (stable):
- open Claude Code, single terminal
- start at 10:00, send a few light prompts
- around 10:05 the UI shows session ≈5% and weekly +2%
- open Settings → Usage → red "Missing permissions…" banner instead of usable data

What Should Happen?
- The /settings/usage page reliably loads for paid accounts with no "Missing permissions" banner, so users can self-verify at any time.
- Real-time usage is accurate and predictable.
- Weekly capacity for Max x20 is increased and/or throttling/cooldowns are relaxed to prevent multi-day lockouts; many Max x20 users report being blocked for days -the plan should provide dependable runway consistent with its price.

Steps to Reproduce
Steps to reproduce:
- Open Claude Code, single terminal, MCP agents disabled.
- Start a fresh session and run a few light prompts (normal coding).
- Go to https://claude.ai/settings/usage - a red "Missing permissions…" banner appears and usage data doesn’t load.
- Within ~3-5 minutes, usage increases quickly (session ~5%, weekly ~+2%) despite MCP agents being off.
