[BUG] Large MCP tools context warning - MCP tools and excessive context usage #12241

Description

@t34wrj

Preflight Checklist

  • I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Despite no changes to my enabled MCP tools, I am now unable to run any commands without generating a 'Context low · Run /compact to compact & continue' warning.

When running the /doctor command, it shows the token usage of my MCP tools as:

Context Usage Warnings
└ ⚠ Large MCP tools context (~144,802 tokens > 25,000)
└ MCP servers:
└ MCP_DOCKER: 135 tools (~125,964 tokens)
└ chrome-devtools: 26 tools (~17,512 tokens)
└ grep: 1 tools (~1,326 tokens)

This was not an issue for me last week and I have not changed the MCP tools that are enabled.

What Should Happen?

Claude Code should be able to load the MCP tools without the extreme level of token usage.
