Make `/status` and/or login account checkable from command line

I would like to be able to check the account I am logged into with Claude, from the command line. I can check it in an interactive session, with /status, but it doesn't appear possible to pass commands to claude, e.g. claude -p "/status"

I'm looking into this to be able to have a script double-check that I am logged into the correct Claude account / Claude Pro/Max Subscription, for the project I am working on, before starting Claude Code.

Any news here? Working with different Claude Subscription Accounts, too. Sure, this little but practical feature could be implemented easily by the Anthropic Team ...

Still needed. I've filed #16629 with a concrete use case: Windows Task Scheduler automation for Max subscribers. The three issues (#1886, #8412, #16629) cover different angles of the same gap - no programmatic access to usage data.

for a while i was extracting rate limit information out from the headers and that worked.

but now that you can do /status and there is an actual % usage there, i assume there is an api now that is easy to figure out and you can call using the token and free of claude code, so probably this isnt needed.
