What's Wrong?
Hello!
I'm reaching out about an issue with the Claude Desktop app on macOS. The Code tab doesn't start, while the regular chat works fine.
When trying to start a session in Code, I get the following error:
Error invoking remote method '$eipc_message$61a9f65f-1ad1-4154-b2da-52d6d0694886$claude.web$LocalSessions$_start': Error: Unable to start session: account information is unavailable. Check your network connection and try again.
What I've already tried:
— Restarting the app and the computer
— Signing out and signing back in
— Clearing the app cache (~/Library/Application Support/Claude, ~/Library/Caches/Claude)
— Uninstalling and reinstalling the app
— Help → Troubleshooting → Clear cache and restart
— Checking internet connection (stable, claude.ai works fine in the browser)
— Checking system clock (set automatically)
— Disabling VPN
None of the above helped. The issue reproduces consistently on every attempt to launch Code.
Environment:
— macOS: 26.2 (25C56)
— Claude Desktop: Claude 1.1.4498 (24f768) 2026-02-26T19:47:09.000Z
— Subscription: Max
I've seen similar bug reports on GitHub (#25177, #20016, #18974), related to a validation error in Electron IPC when calling LocalAgentModeSessions.start.
Could you please let me know if there's a known fix or if one is expected in an upcoming update?

What Should Happen?
The Code tab should start a session successfully and display the Claude Code interface, the same way the regular Chat tab works without issues.
