Desktop app: Claude Code plugin marketplace shows Co-Work plugins instead of CLI plugins

Description

In the Claude Desktop app, the Claude Code settings section has a plugin marketplace. After a recent update, this marketplace now shows Co-Work plugins (e.g. operations, finance, anthropic-skills) instead of the actual Claude Code CLI plugins.

The normal Claude Code plugins that were previously visible in this marketplace are no longer listed.

Steps to reproduce

1. Open Claude Desktop app
2. Go to Claude Code settings section
3. Open the plugin marketplace
4. Observe that the listed plugins are Co-Work plugins, not Claude Code CLI plugins

Expected behavior

The Claude Code plugin marketplace should show Claude Code CLI plugins (like superpowers, hookify, code-review, commit-commands, etc.).

Actual behavior

• The marketplace displays Co-Work plugins (operations, finance, anthropic-skills, etc.)
• Normal Claude Code CLI plugins are missing from the list
• Co-Work plugins can be installed into Claude Code, where they appear as skills but may not be intended for CLI use

Side effect: Co-Work plugins that get installed through this broken marketplace view are actually injected into Claude Code CLI sessions as skills. For example, after installing Finance and Operations from this marketplace, their skills (/journal-entry, /reconciliation, /variance-analysis, /process-optimization, etc.) appear in the CLI and can be invoked there — even though they were never intended for CLI use.

Missing plugins: The entire Claude Code plugin catalog is gone from the marketplace view — not just a few plugins, but all of them (superpowers, hookify, code-review, commit-commands, skill-creator, claude-code-setup, claude-md-management, and many more). Only Co-Work plugins are shown.

Clarification: The marketplace shows the same Co-Work plugin catalog across ALL three modes in the desktop app — Chat, Co-Work, and Code. There is no filtering by platform at all. Every mode sees the same set of Co-Work plugins (Operations, Finance, Design, HR, Engineering, etc.), and none of the mode-specific plugins are available anywhere.

Update: Confirmed on Windows as well

The same issue reproduces on Windows — the plugin marketplace in the Claude Code section shows Co-Work plugins (Operations, Finance, Design, HR, Engineering, Brand Voice) instead of Claude Code CLI plugins on both macOS and Windows.

This confirms the issue is server-side (the marketplace API is returning the wrong plugin catalog), not a local/client problem.

Same issue here. I primarily use Claude Code through the Desktop app (macOS) and the plugin marketplace only shows Cowork plugins. No way to browse or install Claude Code CLI plugins like superpowers, commit-commands, etc. from the Desktop UI.
This has been open for over two weeks now. For those of us who work primarily in the Desktop app rather than the CLI, this effectively blocks plugin discovery entirely. The CLI workaround exists but it shouldn't be necessary.
Would love to see this prioritized. The plugin ecosystem is one of Claude Code's strongest features and it's invisible to Desktop app users right now.

Can Anthropic actually make it make sense? Maintaining organization plugins/connectors/skills for both Cowork, Claude Code in Desktop app and in CLI is total PITA, not even Claude knows what applies to what environment.
