[BUG] No desktop notification for claude ai

What's Wrong?

The desktop chat app, claude ai, doesn't send windows notification when a response finishes despite having the setting turned on and notifications in windows being allowed. I tried on windows 10 and 11 too

What Should Happen?

I get windows notification from the desktop app

Steps to Reproduce

Chat with claude ai and see if you get notified by windows when a response has been delivered by claude ai (when you're tabbed out)

Confirming on macOS — Claude Code Desktop 1.3109.0, macOS 15.7.5. Not Windows-only.

Same issue here (macOS). As a workaround, I added a hook at settings.json like this:

Same issue here.

Environment

• Claude Desktop 1.24012.1.0 (x64, MSIX), clean reinstall
• Windows 11 Home Single Language, build 26200

Symptoms

• "Response completions" is ON in app Settings → Notifications
• Windows Settings → Notifications: Claude is listed and enabled (banners + sounds), DND is off
• When a response finishes while the app is unfocused: no toast, no sound, and no entry in the Windows notification center at all
• Other desktop apps (e.g. ChatGPT) deliver toasts normally on the same machine, so the OS notification pipeline works
• Notifications worked for a while earlier, then stopped; full uninstall + reinstall did not help
