What's Wrong?

Bug: No way to unarchive a Code session in Claude Code Desktop (Windows)

Description

In Claude Code Desktop (Windows), after accidentally archiving a "Code" tab session, there is no visible option to unarchive it. The session continues to work (I can still send messages and receive responses), but:

  1. It does not appear in the sidebar under "Today" or any date section
  2. The search function (magnifying glass) only searches Chat conversations, not Code sessions
  3. Clicking the dropdown arrow (▼) next to the session title only shows "Archive" and "Delete" — no "Unarchive" option
  4. The session seems to be in a limbo state: archived but still active

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude Code Desktop on Windows
  2. Start a Code session (Código tab) linked to a project folder
  3. Click the dropdown arrow (▼) next to the session title
  4. Click "Archivar" (Archive)
  5. The session disappears from the sidebar
  6. The session remains open and functional, but cannot be unarchived

Expected Behavior

  • An "Unarchive" option should appear in the dropdown menu when a session is archived
  • OR archived Code sessions should appear in a searchable "Archived" section
  • OR there should be a confirmation dialog before archiving

Actual Behavior

  • No unarchive option exists anywhere in the UI
  • The search function does not find archived Code sessions
  • The only options visible are "Archive" (again) and "Delete"
  • The user is left with no way to restore the session to the sidebar, and risks accidentally deleting it

Environment

  • Claude Code Desktop (Windows 10 Pro)
  • Plan: Max
  • Model: Opus 4.6 (1M context)
  • Date: 2026-04-04

Impact

  • High risk of accidental data loss (Delete button is next to Archive)
  • User cannot organize or find archived Code sessions
  • Causes anxiety about losing long, complex working sessions

Suggested Fix

  • Add "Unarchive" option to the session dropdown when a session is archived
  • Add archived sessions to the sidebar search results
  • Add a confirmation dialog before archiving
