[BUG] Send/submit arrow button missing from Code tab input area (Windows desktop app)

What's Wrong?

The send/submit arrow button that previously appeared in the Code tab's text input area is no longer visible in the Windows desktop app. The button was present and working consistently until a computer reboot on 2026-04-11. No app update occurred — the app remains at version 1.1617.0.0 (Microsoft Store).

Only the microphone icon, model selector, and permission mode dropdown are visible in the input area. No send arrow. Users must press Enter to submit, with no clickable alternative.

Troubleshooting attempted (all failed):

• Cleared GPUCache folder
• Cleared all render caches (Cache, Code Cache, DawnGraphiteCache, DawnWebGPUCache)
• Full app data reset (renamed %appdata%\Claude) — fresh app state, send button still missing

The full data reset proving the button is still absent with completely fresh app state suggests this is a server-side UI change, not a local issue.

What Should Happen?

A send arrow/button should appear in the Code tab input area (near the model selector dropdown), allowing users to click to submit their message — same as the Chat tab behavior. The Claude Code desktop docs reference this button: "pick a model from the dropdown next to the send button."

Update — refined reproduction: The send arrow is not fully removed. It appears conditionally based on session state:

• During active LLM processing ("Synthesizing..." state): the orange send arrow IS visible to the right of the microphone icon when text is typed in the input box
• When the LLM is idle (waiting for input): the send arrow disappears, leaving only the microphone icon. No clickable send option available.

This refines the bug: the send button isn't missing entirely — it's conditionally hidden based on whether the model is actively generating a response. The button should be visible whenever text is present in the input box, regardless of whether the LLM is processing or idle.

Environment unchanged: Windows 11 Pro, app version 1.1617.0.0, Claude Code CLI 2.1.92.

I have the same issue, it's conditional on "Claude Desktop Chat" and works correctly. But the button never shows up "Claude Desktop Code" no matter the condition...

Seeing this on macOS as well — not just Windows. The submit button is gone from the chat input and only the microphone icon remains on the right side of the composer. Started roughly 3–4 days ago for me (around April 10–11).

Environment:

macOS (Darwin 24.6.0)
Claude Code desktop app, current build
Reproduces on a fresh launch; Enter / Cmd+Enter still submits, so the input itself works — just the button is missing.

Given this is now confirmed on both Windows and macOS, the platform:windows label probably undersells the scope — might be worth adding platform:macos too.
