[BUG] Desktop app authentication fails - "We were unable to verify you with this link" error

What's Wrong?

Description:
Unable to log in to Claude Code Desktop app on Windows 10. Both Google OAuth and email login flows fail to complete authentication.

Authentication fails with verification error. Browser login works fine for claude.ai.

Environment:

OS: Windows 10
Browser: Firefox
Desktop app version: [check Help → About in the app menu]

Additional context:

Browser-based [claude.ai](https://claude.ai/) login works normally
Already tried: signing out/in, complete app restart, checking internet connection
No VPN or proxy in use

What Should Happen?

I should be able to log into the desktop app. I cannot. Currently every login flow is a dead end for me.

Attempt to log in via Google - browser shows "success" but desktop app doesn't proceed
Attempt to log in via email - click "get login code"
Error appears: "We were unable to verify you with this link"

This is for the claude desktop app not Claude Code but I can't find where to log bugs for the desktop app.

This has been confirmed to be a bug in the "CleanURLs" browser add-on. Issue ClearURLs/Addon#510 is tracking the bug and PR ClearURLs/Addon#514 has been opened to fix it: please go upvote those.

As far as I can tell, there is no mitigation for this issue; the browser add-on must be removed in order to permit Claude login again.
