What's Wrong?
What's wrong?
I have an active, paid personal Claude Max subscription, but Claude Code (VS Code extension on Windows) blocks every request with:
"Your organization has disabled Claude subscription access for Claude Code · Use an Anthropic API key instead, or ask your admin to enable access"
My account is personal — it does not belong to any Team or Enterprise organization, and there is no admin who could enable access. Claude Code worked fine on this account until a few weeks ago.
Environment
- Platform: Windows
- Claude Code via the VS Code extension
- Subscription: personal Max, active and paid (most recent invoice shows as Paid; subscription set to auto-renew)
- Claude.ai web works normally on the same account — only Claude Code is blocked
Steps already tried (error persists after all of these)
- Confirmed no ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set (returns empty)
- Updated the VS Code extension and VS Code itself
- Revoked both Claude Code authorization tokens in account settings and signed in again
- Reloaded the VS Code window
Expected behavior
Claude Code should accept my active personal Max subscription, as it did before.
Request
This looks like an erroneous account/organization-level block (possibly a billing-status sync issue where the subscription is paid but still flagged). Please re-enable Claude Code subscription access for my account. I can provide my account email and organization ID privately to a maintainer.
What Should Happen?
Claude Code should accept my active personal Max subscription and let me use it normally, as it did before. The "organization disabled" block should not apply to a personal account with an active, paid subscription and no Team/Enterprise organization.
Error Messages/Logs
Steps to Reproduce
- Use a personal Claude Max subscription (active and paid; not part of any Team or Enterprise organization).
- Open the Claude Code extension in VS Code on Windows.
- Sign in with the personal Max account.
- Send any message (e.g. "hello").
- Result: every request is blocked with the error "Your organization has disabled Claude subscription access for Claude Code · Use an Anthropic API key instead, or ask your admin to enable access".
Additional context:
- No ANTHROPIC_API_KEY is set (checked, returns empty).
- The VS Code extension and VS Code are updated to the latest version.
- Both Claude Code authorization tokens were revoked in account settings and re-authenticated; the error persists.
- The VS Code window was reloaded; the error persists.
- Claude.ai web works normally on the same account — only Claude Code is blocked.
