What's Wrong?

When using claude in PyCharm community edition, I can't scroll up through the conversation using my mouse scroll wheel or using the ctrl+up/down buttons. Using the pgup or pgdown works correctly.
Using PyCharm Professional or PHP storm everything works fine.

What Should Happen?

Should be able to scroll up using the mouse wheel.

I have the same issue. Its actually working when you "Enable New Terminal" in terminal settings, but the output fromat is becomes broken.

I have the same issue in Windows 11 Home and Pycharm 2025.1.3.1 - The mouse-wheel-scroll stopped working when Fable 5 came in.

Thanks for the report. We couldn't reproduce this directly since it needs PyCharm Community Edition on Linux, but the symptom you describe (mouse wheel does nothing while PgUp/PgDn work) is the signature of the terminal not forwarding mouse events to Claude Code — see https://code.claude.com/docs/en/fullscreen#mouse-wheel-scrolling. Wheel scrolling inside the conversation only works in fullscreen rendering (/tui fullscreen) and only when the terminal reports mouse events. In JetBrains IDEs that's controlled by Settings > Tools > Terminal > Mouse reporting (and by which terminal engine — Classic vs. Reworked/New — is selected), and those settings are per-IDE, which would explain PyCharm CE behaving differently from PyCharm Professional/PhpStorm on the same machine.

Also, Ctrl+Up/Ctrl+Down aren't scroll keys in Claude Code; the conversation scrolls with the wheel, PgUp/PgDn, Ctrl+Home/Ctrl+End, or in transcript mode (Ctrl+O) with j/k, Ctrl+U/Ctrl+D, etc.

Could you check that Mouse reporting setting in PyCharm CE and, if it's already on, share: your PyCharm CE version and terminal engine, whether you're running /tui fullscreen or the default renderer, your current Claude Code version (2.1.233 is latest), and claude doctor output? We'll also make the docs call out the JetBrains setting explicitly.
