[BUG] Claude Desktop (macOS): chat input field intermittently can't be focused by clicking — voice input toggle is the only fix

What's Wrong?

On Claude Desktop for macOS (version Claude 1.24012.9 (03c61d) 2026-07-24T04:59:17.000Z, macOS 26.3.1), the text input box in the chat window intermittently stops accepting clicks. Clicking in the box does nothing: no cursor appears, and typing goes nowhere. The box looks completely normal. This happens randomly and repeatedly during everyday use.

The only workaround I've found: turn on the microphone, speak a few words, turn it off. After that, clicking into the box works again — until the next occurrence.

Expected: the input box should accept a click and keyboard focus every time.

This is the same behavior reported in #43575, which was closed as not planned without a fix. Filing fresh with current version details since that issue is closed and the bug is still present.

What Should Happen?

Clicking the chat input box should focus it and accept typing every time.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use Claude Desktop on macOS normally for a while (multiple chats, switching windows).
2. At some point, click the chat input box.
3. No cursor appears; typing does nothing.
4. Toggle voice input on, speak briefly, toggle off. Input box becomes clickable again.
   Intermittent — cannot be triggered on demand.

This continues to happen to me on 1.26832.0 (056ee2), MacOS 26.6

(At least now I know the temporary fix)
