What's Wrong?
Inability to Edit Suggested Changes is Frustrating
When I try to modify the suggested changes in the Claude Code editor before saving, my edits get reverted and Claude attempts to make the same fix again. In previous versions, I could edit the code before saving, which was incredibly helpful because I didn't need to explain every small detail to the AI. I could simply fix minor errors manually without wasting time or going back and forth with the AI over tiny details.
It's frustrating because I spend more time explaining a correction than it would take me to just delete an unnecessary comma or remove 2-3 extra words myself. It would be much better if the editor didn't display "read-only" when I try to edit and actually allowed me to make changes as intended.
This feature used to work perfectly, and it's disappointing that since the major update, Claude Code no longer functions this way. Please bring back the ability to manually edit code suggestions before saving—it would greatly improve the workflow and reduce unnecessary friction.
