After receiving the "Welcome to the Claude Code research preview" email, then installing Claude Code, it continuously fails to authenticate despite entering the correct code multiple times and refreshing to get new codes.

The resolution to this issue was to enter the 6-digit code from the email into the browser (which was launched from Claude Code) and then copying a much longer code string from the browser to Claude Code. The worst thing about Anthropic (including the Claude Chat app) is the requirement to get one-time codes via email versus utilize a OTP via another more common standard or PassKeys, etc. However, this specific issue was a user issue (mine) which clearer documentation or a better auth mechanism could prevent others from having the same issue.
