RK0 is self-conscious - ridiculously embedded, just beyond bare metal. From day 0, its design targets deterministic behaviour, simple contracts, and non-opaque services. RK0 fits embedded constrained devices as we know them. It satisfies those fueled by the craft, who enjoy dialling in, feeling they have the system under control.
On times that 8-layer abstractions and device-trees on a ~32KB RAM device are regarded as "revolutionary" -- contradicting what we formerly knew as real-time anti-patterns -- RK0 is proudly old-fashioned.
