v0.8 — translated dialogs, rating prompt, source link
Data Saver — Usage & Blocker, version 0.8 (versionCode 8).
Same build as the Google Play release of this version.
What changed since 0.7
- The bulk-restrict and monthly-bundle dialogs are translated. Their titles, bodies and
buttons were English string literals in code, so on an Arabic, Urdu or Hindi phone the
dialog that asks you to approve restricting five apps at once appeared in English. Three
more buttons used the framework'scancel, which resolves from the system locale rather
than the app's chosen one. - "Restrict 5 apps?" counts correctly in languages with more than two plural forms.
- A Source code row in Settings, opening this repository.
- A rating prompt, once, after a week of blocking actually running. Decline and it waits
a month. It is the app's own dialog; no Play library is linked. - One build, no flavours. The Play in-app review library was removed, so the only
dependency isandroidx.core:core-ktxand the dex contains nocom/google/android/play.

v0.7 — first public release
Data Saver — Usage & Blocker, version 0.7 (versionCode 7).
This is the build that went to Google Play production.
What it does
Measures how much mobile data each app uses, and blocks the ones you choose
— per network, so an app you block on mobile data stays unrestricted on Wi-Fi.
Permissions
Six, and no INTERNET. The app cannot talk to the network at all; verify it
yourself from the APK:
aapt dump permissions DataSaver-v0.7.apk

reporter, and no account.
Changes in 0.7
- Dropped
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGESin favour of a scoped<queries>declaration. - Enforcement windows are clamped to boot time, so saved-data estimates no
longer count time before the device started. - One notification channel instead of two; the old one is deleted on upgrade.
- Filter-aware headline, searchable app list with an empty state, three-state
engine banner, relative magnitude bars, app version shown in Settings. - Onboarding scrolls, so the grant button stays reachable at large font sizes.
