TaskMonitor 0.1.2
What's new
- App icons: apps show their real icon from your icon theme on the Processes, Startup apps and App history pages, instead of letter badges. (Thanks @nabz54 for the request, #1.)
- Stats in your top bar: one click puts live
CPU · RAM · GPUnext to your clock (system tray). On Ubuntu/GNOME the numbers show beside the icon; on KDE, when you hover it. - Disk activity: a new Performance card shows the processes reading and writing the most right now, and the Details page has sortable Disk read / Disk write columns.
- Copyable properties: every value in a process's Properties has a copy button, plus Copy all, and the sheet now shows total bytes read and written. (Requested on Reddit.)
- End task split button: the arrow next to End task offers End task, Kill, Suspend and Resume. (Thanks @Pdzly, #2.)
- Sidebar tooltips on every icon. (Thanks @Pdzly, #4.)
- Redesigned Settings: grouped cards, clearer controls, top-bar stats and Clear history in one place, links to GitHub and to report a problem.
- Update checker: TaskMonitor checks GitHub once a day for a newer version (you can turn this off), shows an Update pill in the top bar when there is one, and links to the download. It never installs anything by itself.
- Run new task moved to a button on the Processes page.
Fixed
- The search button and the "…" buttons that did nothing are gone. (Thanks @Pdzly, #3.)
- Clearing app history now asks for confirmation.
- Choosing Light or Dark now also applies to Slint's own widgets.

TaskMonitor 0.1.1
What's fixed
- Fedora 44: the RPM now installs. 0.1.0's RPM asked for
libbz2.so.1.0()(64bit), a library name only Debian/Ubuntu use, sodnfrefused it. The RPM now requires only what TaskMonitor actually uses, by names every RPM distro provides: glibc 2.28,libfontconfig.so.1,libxkbcommon.so.0and/usr/bin/pkexec. Thanks to the Reddit user who reported it on Fedora 44 with COSMIC.
What's new
- TaskMonitor is now MIT licensed; every package includes the license text.
- Settings → About shows the version and project link.

What's in it
- Processes: apps, background and system processes with CPU, memory, disk and GPU use; group, sort, search.
- Performance: live CPU (every thread), memory, disks, network adapters and GPUs (Intel, AMD, NVIDIA).
- Right-click actions: End task, End process tree, Kill, Suspend/Resume, Efficiency mode, priority, CPU affinity, Open file location, Properties.
- Details, Services (start/stop/enable systemd services), Startup apps, Users, opt-in App history.
- Light and dark themes, adjustable refresh rate, keyboard shortcuts.
Known limitations
- Actions that need administrator rights (on other users' processes) use polkit and aren't available in the AppImage; use a package for those.
- The Services and Users pages need systemd.
- No ARM build yet.
