MacPad's roadmap is intentionally conservative.

Current Direction

• keep the app small and fast
• keep plain-text editing central
• preserve familiar Notepad-like behavior
• improve reliability, accessibility, and native macOS polish
• keep privacy defaults simple and understandable

Good Future Candidates

• smaller accessibility improvements
• clearer error messages for file loading
• minor keyboard shortcut refinements
• stronger release verification notes
• small status bar polish
• user-reported bug fixes

Out of Scope for MacPad

• extension marketplace
• plugin execution
• syntax highlighting
• themes
• Markdown rendering

• network features
