Magpie 0.1.3
Magpie has its own icon now — a stack of clips and the one shiny thing a magpie keeps — in Finder, Spotlight and the Accessibility list, instead of the framework's default.
If you have 0.1.1 or 0.1.2, Magpie offers this itself: press Restart to update. Your Accessibility permission carries over.

Magpie 0.1.2
A fix release. If you have 0.1.1, Magpie offers this one itself: press Restart to update.
- → on a clip while a search is still landing used to open the actions and then close them a moment later, when the results arrived without that row. The panel now stays on the clip you pressed → on, and closes only if that clip is deleted.
New here? Install with
curl -fsSL https://github.com/ao/homebrew-magpie/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bashor brew tap ao/magpie && brew trust --tap ao/magpie && brew install --cask magpie, then switch Magpie on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility so it can paste.
Magpie 0.1.1
The first test release of Magpie: clipboard history, a launcher, notes and Ask on one keystroke. macOS 13 or later, Apple silicon and Intel.
Install
curl -fsSL https://github.com/ao/homebrew-magpie/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bashor brew tap ao/magpie && brew trust --tap ao/magpie && brew install --cask magpie.
Then let it paste: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility → Magpie.
In this release
- Ask is a tab, ⌘5. Ask an AI anything, or about a clip, with your own API key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a local model). It is off until you turn it on, and while it is off nothing you copy is sent anywhere.
- Paste the Nth clip with ⌘6–⌘9 (⌘1–⌘5 are the tabs).
- Magpie updates itself from here on.
It is signed with its own certificate rather than an Apple Developer ID; the README says what that means. Found something? Open an issue with the build line from Settings → About.
