[test](variant) Add version-neutral compaction benchmark

Problem Summary: Replace the implementation-specific Variant microbenchmark with a source-version-neutral, high-level cumulative compaction workload. The workload validates output semantics and storage layouts across sparse, whole-Variant, mixed physical placement, and Doc Mode scenarios and records reproducibility metadata for commit-to-commit comparisons.
