Rebased on latest master. If the build goes through now, this PR should have rather low potential for problems. And it brings a big benefit because symlinks in git make so often problems on Windows. |

There is a symbolic link in the repository to point to a shell script. I'm under the impression that a relative path in the corresponding
Makefile.amserves the same purpose. Lets see if the CI agrees.[skip ci]anywhere in the commit message to free up build resources.
