How to update
- Be SURE you are running bootloader bitstream v1.3.0 before using this!
- Hold down the gold 'RP2040' button on the right side of Tiliqua before applying Eurorack power.
- A Thumbdrive should appear - drop the correct .uf2 from below on it (make sure to use the correct one for your hardware revision! - for all production tiliquas this is R5, some early ones are R4)
- Eject it and power cycle, it should be updated and now show
apfbug-beta6when queried in dmesg or in the webflasher.
Summary
- This was flashed to all Tiliqua RP2040s built in October 2026 onwards, but it's compatible with any R4/R5 Tiliqua.
- You WILL NEED TO flash the bootloader bitstream to be >= v1.3.0 if you update this, because:
- We switched from UART-driven to I2C-driven reconfiguration requests. (The bootloader bitstream is backwards compatible with old apfbug, you just can't use a new apfbug with an old bootloader).
What's Changed
- Add WCID descriptors: it should be possible to use Tiliqua's webflasher on Windows /without/ needing to use Zadig any more.
- Drop the old/ugly bitstream record/playback logic, and replace it with a minimal port of openFPGALoader's JTAG logic. This makes it much easier to swap out different bitstreams, and also increases the configuration speed.
- Switch from UART codewords as the reconfiguration request to a magic i2c transaction, and because we no longer rely on UART wierdness, pull in most upstream changes from pico-dirtyJtag fixing a bunch of issues with the UART bridge (including recording text even when the Linux uart is not attached yet, so we can see early boot logs!)
Make sure to use the correct one for your hardware version.
