handlebars is used only to render the Scrapy project wrapper templates (wrapScrapyProject), but installs ~5 MB including its optional uglify-js (1.2 MB), source-map (0.8 MB), and neo-async (0.3 MB). The templates are simple enough for a tiny string-replacement helper.
