Local push-to-talk dictation for Windows. Hold F8, speak, release — the text appears where your cursor is. Speech never leaves your PC.

Highlights

  • FAST — Cactus Compute Whistle on the CPU: ~0.1 s for a short phrase, ~40 MB RAM, 0 % CPU when idle.
  • ACCURATE — OpenAI Whisper (whisper.cpp) on your NVIDIA GPU (optional 675 MB GPU pack), CPU fallback. On real Polish speech large-v3-turbo makes ~6× fewer word errors than Whistle (WER 5.7 % vs 35.5 %, FLEURS pl).
  • AUTO (default) — ACCURATE when Whisper is ready on the GPU, otherwise FAST.
  • Speech models window: download / delete models and the GPU pack (pinned URLs, SHA-256 verified, nothing downloaded without your click).
  • Clipboard backup & restore, admin-window handling, custom vocabulary, Polish / English interface, overlay that never steals focus.

Windows 10 (1809+) / 11, x64. On first start WhistleType offers the one-time download of the Whistle model (16.9 MB).
The builds are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn on first launch ("More info" → "Run anyway").
