Plume 1.5

New

  • Pick your bottom row. Fill it with any channel from your apps, such as a Stremio library. The row takes the channel's name, or call it whatever you like.
  • Bing wallpaper. A fresh Bing picture of the day, every day. Off until you turn it on.
  • New languages. Plume is now available in English, French, Turkish and Arabic. It follows your TV's language. Thanks to our translators.
  • PIN for Wi-Fi and Android settings. With a PIN set, nobody can change your network or TV settings from the top bar.

Design

  • See-through tiles. Your wallpaper shows through the tiles, like frosted glass.
  • Smooth gradients. No more bands on dark tiles or the wallpaper fade.
  • Smoother scrolling. The app row now moves more smoothly than in 1.4.

Easier to use

  • Continue Watching order. What you're watching comes before next-episode suggestions.
  • Calmer app names. Moving quickly along the app row no longer flashes every name.

Fixes

  • Plume opens on Android 8.0 and 8.1.
  • A wallpaper too big for your TV's memory no longer closes Plume.
  • Tiles at the edges of All apps are no longer cut off.

No libraries, no ads, no tracking.

On 1.2 or newer? Update from Plume settings → Updates. Coming from 1.1? Install by hand one last time (Downloader code 2125356).

Plume 1.4

Smaller

  • 12% smaller. 365 KB, down from 413 KB, with more features than before. Still no libraries, no ads, no tracking.

New

  • Consoles on your home screen. PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and Apple TV get a tile with their logo. Select one to switch the TV to it.
  • More Continue Watching. No more 3-shows-per-app limit: each app keeps 3 spots up front, and the rest of your shows follow, up to 20.
  • Every HDMI input as a tile. Other HDMI devices appear while they're on, and every input is in All apps, ready to pin.
  • What's new card after every update, so you never miss a feature.

Design

  • New dark mode. True black, with rim-lit cards on the selected item.
  • Plume settings, organised into sections that show their current settings.
  • App row position: left, centre or right.

Easier to use

  • Push Left or Right to change a setting; settings reopen where you left them.
  • Set your weather location by hand.
  • Guided Home button setup, and Home button is now a simple on/off switch.
  • A dot on the settings icon tells you when an update is waiting.

Fixes

  • After a reboot, the first app is selected instead of the network icon.
  • The hold OK menu fits its items.

On 1.2 or newer? Update from Plume settings → Updates. Coming from 1.1? Install by hand one last time (Downloader code 2125356).

Plume 1.3

@aradhyas8 aradhyas8 released this 20 Oct 14:02

Plume 1.3

  • Photo folders. Use a folder of photos on the TV or a USB drive as your wallpaper. The photos take turns with a soft crossfade, from every minute to once a day (Settings → Folder photo changes). Photo fade turns off the darkening at the bottom for your own photos.
  • Your photos as the screensaver. Settings → Screensaver → Your photos shows a folder instead of the Gallery paintings.
  • Lock layout. Set a 4-digit PIN in Settings → Lock layout. Plume settings and changes to the home screen then need the PIN; apps still open as usual.
  • Hold menus. Hold OK on an app for Move, Remove from row and App info, or on a Continue Watching card for Remove and Open app.
  • Fairer Continue Watching. At most three shows per app, so one app can't fill the row.
  • "Plume settings" is the new name for Launcher settings. Back now goes up one page inside it, and Remove a photo… deletes uploaded wallpapers.
  • Turning on the Home button opens the right settings screen on more TVs.

On 1.2 or newer? Update from Plume settings → Updates. Coming from 1.1? Install by hand one last time (Downloader code 2125356).

@aradhyas8 aradhyas8 released this 19 Oct 15:30

Plume 1.2.1

  • Fixed: with Icon style → Colour, apps without a simple logo (for example ADB TV or Aerial Views) could stay grey after switching from Monochrome until Plume restarted.

On 1.2? Update from Plume settings → Updates. Coming from 1.1? Install by hand one last time (Downloader code 2125356).

Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

A newer version is out. Get the latest Plume here: https://github.com/aradhyas8/Plume_Launcher/releases/latest
Already on 1.2? Plume updates itself from Plume settings → Updates.

Plume 1.2

  • Updates itself. Plume checks for new versions once a day. Install them from Plume settings → Updates. The first time, Android asks you to allow installs from Plume.
  • Hide apps you don't use from the home row (Settings → Apps in row). They stay in All apps.
  • App names under the tiles: on focus, always, or never.
  • Colour icons: the same clean logos, in each brand's colour.
  • Your own wallpapers from your phone: Settings → Light/Dark mode wallpaper → Add from phone…, then scan the QR code.
  • Fixed blotchy green patches in wallpaper skies.

Coming from 1.1? Install this version by hand one last time (Downloader code 2125356). From now on, Plume updates itself.

Plume 1.1

Choose a tag to compare

@aradhyas8 aradhyas8 released this 18 Oct 19:27

Plume 1.1 makes the launcher dramatically smaller by turning the Gallery screensaver into an optional download.

Highlights

  • APK size reduced from 5.1 MB to 0.4 MB. The screensaver paintings are no longer bundled with the app.
  • Gallery is now opt-in. Choose Settings → Screensaver to download the paintings (4.7 MB). Switching to a different screensaver deletes them, so they only use storage while Gallery is selected.
  • Seamless upgrade. If you already use Gallery, Plume downloads the paintings automatically the first time it opens after updating.

Fixes

  • The Home button setting now correctly recognises the accessibility service when Android stores it in its short form, preventing a duplicate entry.

Installing or upgrading

Download Plume-1.1.apk below and install it on your TV. It upgrades version 1.0 in place, keeping all your settings. New to Plume? See the installation guide.

Requires Android TV or Google TV on Android 8.0 or newer.
