Models and Collections in Keel are straight-up Backbone models and collections.

Keel was originally intended to support Domain Driven Design. While it is not necessary to follow a DDD methodology to use Keel, we find that it is useful to store our models separately away from our views, as described in the Developer Guide. This provides a conceptual separation of our data from our views.

These models and collections can then be either used directly by the Views (proxied by a Repository object in DDD), or if the data needs to be altered for display purposes, ViewModels can be created and kept with the View that needs the altered data.
