Overview
First public release of BitSynth, a 4-voice polyphonic synthesizer for DOS systems. This compact digital synthesizer transforms the humble PC speaker into a capable sound generation platform through creative manipulation of the programmable interval timer (PIT).
Features
- Complete 4-voice polyphonic sound generation
- Multiple waveform types: sine, square, sawtooth, and triangle
- ~18.2 kHz sample rate with 8-bit resolution
- Optimized assembly code (<2KB total size)
- Experimental tracker interface for basic sequencing
Installation
- Download

Known Limitations
- CPU usage is relatively high due to software mixing
- Limited to PC speaker output with inherent audio fidelity constraints
- Tracker interface is currently in prototype stage
Next Steps
Development will focus on implementing ADSR envelopes, expanding the waveform library, and completing the tracker interface for full music composition capabilities.
