Release list
v0.1.2-alpha
v0.1.2-alpha (build 2609-003) - a launcher that updates itself, NTSC-U discs, an offline pack and a first Linux version.
A static recompilation of Wii Party to native code for Windows and, experimentally, Linux. This download contains no game code or data. You need your own legally obtained copy of Wii Party; the launcher translates and builds the game on your computer from that copy.
What's new
- The launcher updates itself. On start it checks this releases page, shows an Update notice when a newer launcher exists, downloads it, checks its published SHA-256 and restarts. v0.1.1 is the last version you download by hand. A setting turns the check off.
- Faster game updates. After a launcher update, only the files that changed are rebuilt (1-2 minutes for most updates), and you can keep playing the old version while the new one builds. The launcher shows the expected time first.
- NTSC-U discs (SUPE01) work next to PAL (SUPP01). You can add more than one version of the disc and switch between them. The launcher also checks your dump against Redump.
- Joy-Con support: a single Joy-Con held sideways, a Joy-Con R upright (gyro pointer) or a left and right pair act as a Wii Remote.
- Offline mode and offline pack. Turn on Offline mode in Settings and the launcher never connects to the internet. For PCs without internet,
wiipartyrecomp-offline-windows.zipcarries the launcher and every build tool (about 185 MB). - Linux (experimental).
wiipartyrecomp-launcher-x86_64.AppImagebuilds and plays the game on Linux with an OpenGL renderer, keyboard, mouse, sound, the F10 menu and texture packs. - New launcher pages and tools: gamepad list, textures page, desktop shortcuts, repair, problem reports and a "what's new" note after each update.
- No console window: the game opens only its own window.
- Graphics fixes: the water in ¡Puños fuera!, the Mii faces (lips, eyes and eyebrows taken from another Mii in Saltos selváticos, Bote a bote, ¡Canastas! and Las puertas del pánico) and the flashes in Carrera galáctica.
- More exact CPU translation: every instruction kind the game uses is now checked by 4,152 tests, which found and fixed a few faults, and floating point matches the Wii's processor.
This update rebuilds the whole game once (about 10 minutes on a 6-core processor), because the CPU translation changed. Your saves and settings are kept.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit; or Linux x86_64 with glibc 2.38 or newer (Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Fedora 39 or later) and OpenGL 4.1.
- Your own dump of Wii Party PAL (SUPP01) or NTSC-U (SUPE01): ISO, WBFS, RVZ, CISO, WIA or GCM.
- About 5 GB of free space.
- 4 GB of RAM minimum; 8 GB or more recommended for the build.
How to install
Windows
- Download
wiipartyrecomp-launcher.exe. It is the only file you need. - Open it, choose your disc and press Install. Missing tools (nodtool, Python, CMake, Ninja and a MinGW-w64 GCC) are downloaded from their official sites and checked against their published SHA-256.
- When it finishes, press Play.
Already on v0.1.1? Download this launcher once and press Update; later versions arrive by themselves.
Windows without internet: download wiipartyrecomp-offline-windows.zip, unzip it and open the launcher inside. It uses the tools next to it and never downloads anything.
Linux
- Install the build tools:
- Debian and Ubuntu:
sudo apt install g++ cmake ninja-build python3 curl libx11-dev libxext-dev libxrandr-dev libxcursor-dev libxi-dev libxss-dev libxkbcommon-dev libwayland-dev wayland-protocols libdecor-0-dev libegl-dev libgl-dev libpulse-dev libasound2-dev libudev-dev libdbus-1-dev - Fedora:
sudo dnf install gcc-c++ cmake ninja-build python3 curl libX11-devel libXext-devel libXrandr-devel libXcursor-devel libXi-devel libXScrnSaver-devel libxkbcommon-devel wayland-devel wayland-protocols-devel libdecor-devel mesa-libEGL-devel mesa-libGL-devel pulseaudio-libs-devel alsa-lib-devel systemd-devel dbus-devel - Arch:
sudo pacman -S --needed gcc cmake ninja python curl sdl3
- Debian and Ubuntu:
- Download
wiipartyrecomp-launcher-x86_64.AppImage, make it executable (chmod +x wiipartyrecomp-launcher-x86_64.AppImage) and open it. - Choose your disc, press Install, then Play.
Known problems
- Linux is experimental. It has only been tested on Ubuntu 24.04 under WSL, where the picture and sound pass through a remote desktop link. Gamepads have not been tested on Linux yet. Linux testers are very welcome.
- NTSC-U and Joy-Cons are waiting for confirmation from players.
- The pair games and some modes have not been played through in full.
- Real Wii Remotes are not supported.
- High internal resolutions (5x-6x) can drop below 60 fps, depending on the graphics card.
Please report problems in the Issues tab with your system and, if the install failed, the log under Show details. Never attach game files.

v0.1.1-alpha
v0.1.1-alpha (build 2609-002) - a new launcher and a build twice as fast.
A static recompilation of Wii Party (PAL, SUPP01) to native Windows code. This download contains no game code or data. You need your own legally obtained copy of Wii Party; the launcher translates and builds the game on your computer from that copy.
What's new
- A new launcher, rebuilt from scratch. One 6.6 MB file instead of 32 MB, about 40 MB of memory, and it draws nothing while nothing moves. Light and dark themes follow Windows, and the language changes at once.
- The build takes about half the time. The translated game code is now compiled at
-O1: the same frame rate and CPU use in game, measured, and about 10 minutes for a full install on a 6-core processor instead of about 20. - Your PC stays usable while it builds. The build runs at low priority, the number of parallel jobs follows your memory, and Cancel now stops every compiler at once. No console windows appear.
- Real progress: a percentage, the time left and each step, with the full log under Show details.
- Free space check: the launcher shows how much space the install needs (about 5 GB) and how much the drive has. The test programs are no longer built, which saves about 500 MB.
- Updates: when this launcher finds an install from v0.1.0, the Game page offers Update. Your saves and settings are kept.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Your own dump of Wii Party PAL (SUPP01): ISO, WBFS, RVZ, CISO, WIA or GCM.
- About 5 GB of free space and an internet connection for the first install (tools only).
- 4 GB of RAM minimum; 8 GB or more recommended for the build.
How to install
- Download
wiipartyrecomp-launcher.exe. It is the only file you need. - Open it. On the Game page, check the install folder (by default
%LOCALAPPDATA%\WiiPartyRecomp; Change picks another one), choose your disc and press Install. Missing tools (nodtool, Python, CMake, Ninja and a MinGW-w64 GCC) are downloaded from their official sites and checked against their published SHA-256. - When it finishes, press Play.
Already on v0.1.0? Open the new launcher and press Update.
Known problems
- Windows only for now. Linux is planned; if you have a Mac and would like to help test in the future, please open an issue or a discussion.
- Graphics faults in a few minigames: the water in ¡Puños fuera!, the Mii faces in Saltos selváticos and Bote a bote, and brief flashes in Carrera galáctica.
- The pair games and some modes have not been played through yet.
- Real Wii Remotes are not supported.
- High internal resolutions (5x-6x) can drop below 60 fps, depending on the graphics card.
Please report problems in the Issues tab with your Windows version and, if the install failed, the log under Show details. Never attach game files.

v0.1.0-alpha
v0.1.0-alpha (build 2609-001) - first public test build.
A static recompilation of Wii Party (PAL, SUPP01) to native Windows code. This download contains no game code or data. You need your own legally obtained copy of Wii Party; the launcher translates and builds the game on your computer from that copy.
What you need
- Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
- Your own dump of Wii Party PAL (SUPP01): ISO, WBFS, RVZ, CISO, WIA or GCM.
- About 6 GB of free space and an internet connection for the first install (tools only).
- About 15 minutes for the first build on a 6-core processor (longer on slower machines).
How to install
- Download
wiipartyrecomp-launcher.exe. It is the only file you need. - Open
wiipartyrecomp-launcher.exe. - On the Game page, check the install folder (by default
%LOCALAPPDATA%\WiiPartyRecomp; Change folder... picks another one, for example on a drive with more space), choose your disc and press Install. The launcher writes the build files into that folder, checks the tools it needs (nodtool, Python, CMake, Ninja and a MinGW-w64 GCC), downloads missing ones from their official sites and checks each file against its published SHA-256. Then it extracts your disc, translates the game and builds it. - When it finishes, press Play.
What works
- The whole game translated: the main executable and all 115 code modules, with the game's own audio microcode recompiled.
- A complete game of Board Game Island played through. 56 minigames played in Free Play, 50 with no fault seen.
- 60 Hz (the console's PAL60 setting), internal resolution up to 6x and borderless full screen (F11).
- Keyboard and mouse, and up to four gamepads as Wii Remotes 1 to 4.
- An in-game options menu (F10) and a launcher to change every PC option, remap keys and restore save backups, in English or Spanish.
- F9 saves a screenshot.
Known problems
- Windows only for now.
- The options menu, key remapping, save backups and custom textures are new and have seen little testing.
Please report problems in the Issues tab with the commit, your Windows version and the console output. Never attach game files.
