ExileLens v1.0.0
ExileLens 1.0.0
Build-aware item analysis for Path of Exile 2. Item Check compares the item you hover against your selected Path of Building for Path of Exile 2 build and shows an upgrade, downgrade, sidegrade or uncertain verdict in an overlay.
What changed since 0.6.0
1.0.0 is the next public release after 0.6.0. The planned 0.7 release was not published.
- Item Check says what your build needs. When an item fixes a resistance cap or another current priority of your build, the tooltip says so next to the measured result. The measured comparison against your equipped gear still decides the verdict.
- Loot Filters (Experimental). Choose from five strictness profiles and eight themes, inspect the preview, then Generate & Install. General filters work offline without a connected build; a current build analysis adds personalization. Each profile has its own installed file.
- Analyze Build (Experimental) shows what to do next. What to fix first, the stats your build responds to most, and up to three next actions, each with the change that was tested. When something could not be established, it says so.
- A redesigned desktop app with clear feature labels. Loot Filters and Analyze Build carry an Experimental badge in navigation and on their pages. A status panel shows your build and whether ExileLens is ready, with Overview, Analyze Build, Settings and Diagnostics beside it. A "What's new" dialog appears once after an update.
- Verified updates that roll back. Updates are checked against a signed manifest before they install, installs are journaled and rolled back if they fail, and ExileLens tells you the result after restarting.
- Supporter convenience, nothing else. Patreon supporters who link their account get more frequent checks, background download of verified updates and install when ExileLens closes. Everyone else keeps Download & install and Restart & update. It is the same signed release for everyone; there is no paid build and no DRM.
- Optional usage statistics and error reports. Two separate switches in Settings, both off by default. Only a fixed list of anonymous values is ever sent; Settings shows exactly what. Item Check, Analyze Build and manual updates work without them and without any account.
- Clearer refusals. Jewels and off-hand items that cannot be compared say why in plain words, without internal socket numbers.
- A more responsive app. Build loading and reloads run in the background, keeping the desktop responsive. Repeated item checks avoid unnecessary work, and only the latest requested check is resumed after a build reload.
- Faster Filters and Diagnostics navigation. Reopening Filters reuses its current preview, while a changed selection generates in the background. Diagnostics avoids repeated system queries. Installation waits for the current filter selection to finish generating.
- Reliability. Item Check and Analyze Build were checked against a corpus of real public builds, covering weapons, off-hands, jewels, loadouts and weapon sets, and your build is restored exactly after every comparison.
- Fix: crossbows with ammunition skills are measured on the skill that actually fires, so a stronger crossbow no longer shows no change.
Installation
- Download ExileLens-v1.0.0-win64.zip and SHA256SUMS.txt from this GitHub release.
- Check the ZIP against
SHA256SUMS.txt(PowerShell:Get-FileHash .\ExileLens-v1.0.0-win64.zip -Algorithm SHA256), then extract the full folder and run ExileLens.exe. - On first launch, connect your Path of Building Community (PoE2) installation and select a saved build XML.
Path of Building is not bundled. README.txt in the ZIP covers requirements, Shift+C usage and troubleshooting. The ZIP also contains LICENSE, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt and third_party_licenses\.
ExileLens is not signed with a paid Windows code-signing certificate, so Windows SmartScreen or antivirus software may warn about it. Download it only from this repository's GitHub Releases page.
Supported PoB source revision (tested): branch dev, commit 97cb973f8a114d32010bc1a4195c170628771714.
Updating
Packaged builds check GitHub shortly after start and then about once a day; there is no setting to turn the check off. To update, open Settings -> Updates, choose Check for updates, then Download & install and Restart & update. If that fails, close ExileLens, download the new ZIP from GitHub Releases, check it against SHA256SUMS.txt and extract it into a new folder; your settings stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\ExileLens. Source and development runs do not self-update.
Known limitations
-
Loot Filters and Analyze Build are Experimental. Generated filters pass offline checks; acceptance by the live PoE2 client remains unverified. After installation, select or reload the filter in PoE2 yourself.
-
Some Path of Exile 2 mechanics are not fully modeled by Path of Building or ExileLens, so some results are partial or
UNCERTAIN. -
Jewels that change passive-tree connectivity cannot be evaluated.
-
Your Path of Building build is the comparison baseline, not your live in-game gear.
-
ExileLens does not show prices and does not contact the Path of Exile trade service.
-
Item Check evaluates one hovered item at a time.

ExileLens v0.6.0 - Beta
ExileLens 0.6.0
Early beta for Windows. Item Check uses your selected Path of Building for Path of Exile 2 and shows upgrade / downgrade guidance in an overlay.
Highlights
New in 0.6.0
- Can't-equip warning: items whose level or attribute requirements you cannot meet are shown as NOT VIABLE.
- Build freshness: the Overview warns when your PoB build file changed on disk or is old.
- PoB auto-detect: Path of Building is found via the registry, shortcuts and common folders; a Detect button is available in Overview, Settings and Setup.
- Update awareness: in-app update notice and a check when the dashboard opens.
- Build Intelligence: Analyze Build opens with BUILD PRIORITIES measured from your own build.
- Fix: clicking outside the tooltip now dismisses it even when an ExileLens window sits behind the game.
Diagnostics and support
- Diagnostics 2.0: Application health summary, single Copy diagnostics action, optional support package export, and collapsible Advanced diagnostics (event history and technical report).
- Structured error codes: Failures in Item Check, PoB connection, build loading, the calculation worker, and updates surface stable EL-* codes with plain-language recovery guidance in the overlay and Diagnostics.
Updates
- Unified release selection: Automatic updates target the newest verified official release (beta or stable) using version ordering—not a separate channel picker.
- Settings → Updates: Installed version, check/download progress, and restart-to-apply live in Settings; the dashboard footer and system tray show the same state.
Evaluation honesty
- UNCERTAIN / UNSUPPORTED Item Check outcomes use a separate evaluation limitation catalog; they are not treated as application crashes.
- Scoring, damage math, and truthfulness gates are unchanged from 0.4.0b1.
Setup and Item Check
- PoB2 auto-discovery suggests a validated installation folder during setup when none is saved; manual Browse remains available.
- Stale build protection rejects Item Check that observed newer or missing on-disk build bytes instead of evaluating against an outdated in-memory baseline.
Installation
- Download ExileLens-v0.6.0-win64.zip from the GitHub Release (after publish approval).
- Extract the full folder and run ExileLens.exe.
- On first launch, connect your Path of Building Community (PoE2) installation and select a saved build XML.
Path of Building is not bundled. See README.txt in the ZIP for requirements, Shift+C usage, and troubleshooting.
The distribution includes ExileLensUpdater.exe under _internal\ for in-place secure updates.
Supported PoB source revision (tested):
- branch:
dev - commit:
97cb973f8a114d32010bc1a4195c170628771714
Update system (packaged installs only)
- Open Settings → Updates and choose Check for updates.
- When a newer verified release is available, use Download & Install.
- When the download is verified, choose Restart & Update to apply via the external updater.
Source/development runs do not self-update. If the newest release cannot be verified safely, ExileLens will not install an older release automatically.
Known limitations
- Path of Exile 2 game client compatibility is not verified in this release.
- Structured error coverage focuses on Item Check, PoB, build, worker, updates, and diagnostics export—not every experimental module (market hub, tree tools, gear optimizer).
- Item Check evaluates one hovered item at a time.
- Beta quality: report issues via Diagnostics → Copy diagnostics and GitHub Issues.

ExileLens v0.4.0b1 - Beta
ExileLens 0.4.0b1
Early beta for Windows. Item Check uses your selected Path of Building for Path of Exile 2 build and shows upgrade / downgrade guidance in an overlay.
Highlights
Item Check and equipment
- Two-handed weapons and paired offhands: When a two-handed candidate would remove your shield or change which offhand PoB equips, verdict and tooltip text now name the actual item that would be dropped—including swap-set quiver vs. primary shield cases.
- Safer weapon and offhand evaluation: One-hand + offhand, bow + quiver, shield replacement, and two-handed weapon upgrades are measured with more reliable equipment and build-context restoration after each check.
- Weapon-set swap slots: Item Check refines component-context evaluation for builds using PoB’s second weapon set. This release improves correctness and restore behavior for swap-slot comparisons; it does not add whole-build, cross-weapon-set automation (you still check one hovered item at a time).
Stability and reliability
- Unicode worker compatibility on Windows for PoB subprocess output.
- Deferred restoration and crash handling: If the calculation worker stops unexpectedly, ExileLens fails closed and avoids showing a successful result after a failed restore.
- Non-weapon Item Check crash fix for some ring and accessory comparisons that could abort evaluation.
Quality
- Expanded real-PoB and mandatory regression coverage for weapon/offhand scenarios, incompatible placements, and paired-offhand disclosure.
Not in the desktop app
Internal contextual proof and diagnostic enumeration APIs support engineering and automated tests. They are not a separate player-facing mode and do not compare your entire build across all weapon sets automatically.
Installation
- Download ExileLens-v0.4.0b1-win64.zip from the GitHub Release (published by the project’s release workflow).
- Extract the full folder and run ExileLens.exe.
- On first launch, connect your Path of Building Community (PoE2) installation and select a saved build XML.
Path of Building is not bundled. See README.txt in the ZIP for requirements, Shift+C usage, and troubleshooting.
Supported PoB source revision (tested):
- branch:
dev - commit:
97cb973f8a114d32010bc1a4195c170628771714
Known limitations
- Path of Exile 2 game client compatibility is not verified in this release; only the supported PoB revision above is recorded.
- Item Check evaluates one hovered item at a time—not every weapon-set combination across your whole build.
- Some mechanics remain cautious or unsupported (certain jewel sockets, multi-part skills without fixtures, and cases that must show uncertainty instead of a directional verdict).
- Beta quality: wrong or unsupported evaluations are still possible; use diagnostics and report issues via the in-app links.

ExileLens v0.3.0b2 - Beta
What's Changed
- Add manual Discord release announcement workflow by @arewoz in #22
- Prepare ExileLens 0.3.0b2 by @arewoz in #23
Full Changelog: v0.3.0b1...v0.3.0b2
ExileLens 0.3.0b1 — Jewel Support & Desktop Polish
The biggest addition in this release: Item Check now works with Jewels. Hover a Jewel in-game and ExileLens checks it against the eligible sockets in your build using real Path of Building calculations.
This update also makes ExileLens much more polished outside the game. Item Check is cleaner and easier to read, the dashboard, Settings and first-run setup now share a consistent dark visual style, and the tray menu has been simplified. Discord, bug reporting and diagnostics are also easier to reach.
What's new
- Jewel support in Item Check
- Automatic comparison across eligible Jewel sockets
- Improved Jewel evaluation performance
- New first-run setup experience
- Optional Ignore socketed Runes comparison mode
- Cleaner and more compact Item Check results
- Refreshed dashboard and Settings UI
- Simplified tray menu
- Easier Discord and bug-report access
- Better PoB detection and connection handling
- Weapon-swap evaluation fixes
- Item Check correctness fixes
- Cleaner and more reliable app shutdown
- Dashboard now behaves like a normal desktop window
Known limitations
- Some special Jewel sockets that can change passive-tree connectivity are intentionally skipped rather than risk giving an incorrect result.
- Jewel checks can take a few seconds on builds with many eligible sockets because each placement is evaluated through Path of Building.
ExileLens is still in beta. If something looks wrong, use Copy diagnostic report → Report an Issue, or let me know on Discord.
