Alert Redux is a Home Assistant integration for alerts: the things your home
should tell you about, and keep telling you about until someone deals with them. A
door left open, a freezer warming up, a leak, a bridge gone offline, the bins to put
out. It replaces the built-in alert integration, and everything is set up in the
UI.

This wiki is a cookbook: real household problems, and how to solve them with Alert Redux. The README says what every setting does; the pages here say when you'd reach for it.
- Considering Alert Redux? Start with Why Alert Redux?.
- Just installed it? Getting Started sets up notifications and your first alert, then Choosing an Alert Kind helps with the next ones.
- Looking for something particular? The recipes are grouped by theme in the sidebar, and the Feature Index lists which recipes show each feature.

Each recipe is a scenario, marked by how much it asks of you:
| Mark | Level |
|---|---|
| ● | Basic: one alert, a few settings. |
| ●● | Intermediate: conditions, templates, buttons, or a less obvious kind. |
| ●●● | Advanced: several alerts working together, or generators. |
And each has the same parts: the problem, why this kind, the settings to make in the UI, the same alert as a file to import, what you'll see, and variations. The import files assume three notifier groups named Phone, Speakers, and Persistent; Getting Started sets them up, and shows how to import a recipe.
To learn Alert Redux from the ground up, work through these in order. Each adds one or two ideas to the ones before.
- Garage door left open: a state, a delay, and a button. (The first alert in Getting Started.)
- Water leak: priorities, and choosing who's told.
- Zigbee bridge down: an alert about your system itself.
- Freezer too warm: a threshold, with hysteresis, and riding out missing data.
- Clean laundry ready: a manual alert that your automations raise and clear.
- Package delivered: a manual alert that ends by itself, with data in its message.
- Motion while away: an alert that fires on a trigger, for a while.
- Alarm not armed while away: templates, and a message that explains what's wrong.
- Dishwasher needs emptying: separate criteria for on and off.
- Leak not acknowledged: escalating when nobody responds.
- Door open, then left open: two alerts, one superseding the other.
- Freezer warm overnight: an alert kept until someone acknowledges it.
- Smoke detected: an alert that can't be silenced, and a companion that remembers it.
- Low batteries everywhere: a generator, making one alert per battery.
Then read the pattern pages, starting with Designing Your Notifications.
- README: the reference for every setting, action, event, and attribute.
- Specification: the full design, with the reasons for it.
- Issues: problems, questions, and feature requests.
- Using an AI agent with Home Assistant? Alert Redux ships an agent skill that teaches it all of this.
