Reliable Routes gives a handful of tools to players to help MineColonies citizens stay out of where they don't belong - and take logical paths (like bridges) over obstacles (like rivers).

New Domum Ornamentum Recipes

Routing Blocks are the main tool by which paths are influenced. image

Forbidden Ground

Two new Domum Ornamentum recipes allow various materials to be used as "Forbidden Ground" - citizens will not cross these blocks.

  • One is a visual "curb" which non-citizens can cross easily, and which you can readily see in-game.
  • The other is indistinguishable from a normal block, but will prevent citizens from traversing it. Use with care, as you could accidentally block reasonable paths unintentionally and without a clear visual clue as to why.

Reliable Routes Roads

Two new Domum Ornamentum recipes increase the variety of MineColonies-compatible pathblock designs available for your colony road network.

  • Roads (15/16 height blocks)
  • Stairs (15/16 height stairs)

Path Block Pairs

Allow you to define a preferred crossing route within an applicable routing zone.

Routing Zone

  1. (Cyan Box): A routing zone defines the area which triggers a citizen looking for a preferred path to cross.
  2. (Paired Path Blocks): The endpoints of the preferred path across the routing zone.
  3. (Pathfinder Lens): The tool which allows you to define and see the Routing Zone and Paired Path.

  1. As a result, they won't swim across a point in the Routing Zone...
  2. They'll travel the preferred path.

Pathfinder Lens

Provides a means of seeing what blocks are off limits for citizen pathing and what blocks are preferred. Enables the linking of Path Block Pairs and Routing zones.

Creating a Routing Zone

  • Place a Path Pair block at each end of the desired crossing.
  • Right click the Pathfinder Lens on both Path Pair blocks to connect them.
  • Right click lens on two opposite corners of your desired Routing Zone to mark the area in which the route between the paired path blocks should apply.
  • Both endpoints must be in the same colony.
  • Crouch-use a paired endpoint to remove its zone, or crouch-use the lens in the air to clear your current selection.
