CMIP6 Equatorial-Wave Diagnostics in Python
First public release of the CMIP6 Equatorial-Wave Diagnostics Python workflow.
This software provides a reproducible workflow for evaluating tropical
equatorial-wave variability in CMIP6 climate models using daily precipitation
data.
The workflow includes:
- Wheeler-Kiladis wavenumber-frequency precipitation spectra;
- eastward- and westward-propagating spectral diagnostics;
- equatorial Kelvin-wave filtering;
- equatorial Rossby-wave filtering;
- seasonal precipitation-variance diagnostics;
- pattern-correlation and amplitude-based skill scores;
- individual model diagnostic figures;
- multi-model comparison panels; and
- scripts for processing CMIP6 precipitation data on HPC systems such as
NCI Gadi.
The diagnostics are designed to quantify the representation of tropical
space-time spectral variability and equatorial Kelvin and Rossby waves in
climate models.
Version 1.0.0 provides the first archived release of the Python implementation.
