AROS is developed as an open project, and forks and downstream distributions are permitted under the terms of the AROS Public License (APL). Accurate attribution of upstream development is a fundamental requirement of that licence and is essential for maintaining transparency for users, developers, and third-party contributors.

Accordingly, it is not acceptable to use the AROS bug or issue tracker to post links to issues, discussions, or proposed solutions hosted solely on forks, downstream distributions, or external forums as a substitute for reporting the relevant information directly within the AROS project. Where an issue affects AROS itself, the relevant technical information, reproduction steps, and discussion should be provided in the AROS issue tracker so that it remains accessible to and actionable by the upstream project and its contributors.

References to external resources may be included where they provide relevant supplementary information, but such references should not replace a substantive upstream issue report or direct the discussion away from the AROS project. This approach ensures that issues affecting AROS are properly attributed, remain visible to the upstream community, and can be addressed in a transparent and collaborative manner.
