Reconf Option

Use --reconf-LIBRARY when a library's generated Autotools files need to be recreated before building.

--reconf-LIBRARY

Replace LIBRARY with the build option name, such as gnutls, kvazaar, fontconfig, libass, x264 or a custom library name.

Typical symptoms are Automake/Autoconf version mismatch errors, missing configure, missing Makefile.in, or stale aclocal.m4 files.

Examples:

./nix-android.sh -p android-r27d --enable-kvazaar --reconf-kvazaar --rebuild-kvazaar
./scripts/start-android.sh --enable-kvazaar --reconf-kvazaar --rebuild-kvazaar

--reconf-LIBRARY only regenerates build files when that library is built. It does not enable the library, force an already installed library to rebuild, or download sources again.

• To enable an optional library, also pass --enable-LIBRARY or use --full.
• To force an installed library to build again, also pass --rebuild-LIBRARY.
• To download source code again, also pass --redownload-LIBRARY.

Example:

./nix-android.sh -p android-r27d --enable-gnutls --redownload-gnutls --reconf-gnutls --rebuild-gnutls

Use --reconf-LIBRARY only for libraries that regenerate Autotools-style files. It is not useful for Meson, CMake, or non-Autotools make/configure builds such as dav1d, harfbuzz, liblc3, rubberband, chromaprint, jpeg, libaom, libjxl, snappy, soxr, srt, vvenc, x265, libvpx and openh264.

Nix wrappers provide the required Autotools and gettext environment. When using scripts/start-<target>.sh directly, install and expose host tools yourself. For Homebrew gettext:

FFmpeg and FFmpegKit are part of the main build flow. --reconf-ffmpeg and --reconf-ffmpeg-kit are not useful controls for normal builds.
