AS comm port setting

In a Windows platform, what "controls" the communication baud rate during the roast? For Kaleido serial the AS app comm port has been recommended to be set at 57600 BPS, but the OS comm port default baud rate is 9600 BPS.

The baudrate (among other serial parameters) has to be configured by the app per connection. The baudrate of the app has to respect the requirement of the connected device. The Kaleido communicates @ 57600 BPS. The Artisan Kaleido machine configuration sets the baudrate for the communication with the Kaleido to those 57600 BPS. You can verify this in the Ports dialog (menu Config >> Ports while in Expert mode).

I understand the AS port setting. The question still stands. The comm port -- part hardware, part software -- is controlled by the platform OS which by default runs at 9600 BPS. If AS is running at 57600 BPS would the OS cause a bottleneck at 9600? Would it be advisable for operator to change the OS comm port setting to match the AS Kaleido 57600 BPS?

The OS port is configured by AS on open. The platform default does not play any role here.
